The Kingdom by Jess Rothenberg

Eerily fantastical and wondrous– that is what Jess Rothenberg’s “The Kingdom” delivers to readers.

This book gives the usually joyous saying “happily ever after” a whole different meaning. The second I turned to the first page I was hooked by the incredible story telling and writing.

The whole book faces around our known world of America, but if there was a place in the capital based on a cryptic version of Disneyland called The Kingdom. The book centers around the “lives” of the Fantasists a half human half android version a Disney Princess, but especially the life of Ana, one of the first Fantasists. Everything seems utterly happy and wondrous until Ana meets Owen, an adorable yet gruff Kingdom worker, falls in love with him (not something anyone thought was possible) and is accused of murdering him.

Plot twist!

(Okay, not really that's literally how it begins).

The story starts off in a confusing yet alluring manner towards all readers, spanning over the course of two years leading up to Ana’s trial. It hooked me by the first sentence; I couldn’t put this book down. I think I might have been physically attached to it for two days.

Rothenberg’s writing displays an amazing and fantastical approach to the world of fantasy in a creative and never-done-before way.

I absolutely LOVE the way the story is told, it brings an almost horrific touch to the world of fantasy. This book is a 5/5 must read for any level of book lover.

Long story short, go read it. It's amazing!
